What you’ll be doing

Reporting to an Engineering Director you’ll be delivering a new global project building a new consumer portal product in both the UK and Australia. This is a senior hands-on role requiring a blend of architectural leadership, delivery focus, and full-stack engineering expertise.

• Architect and deliver a Greenfield global consumer portal product across the UK and Australia.
• Aggregate new and existing APIs behind a unified API gateway (e.g., Cloudflare / AWS API Gateway).
• Implement a single sign-on solution using AWS Cognito.
• Build and deploy infrastructure with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or AWS CDK).
• Design a CI/CD approach with GitHub Actions, ensuring separate pipelines for each region.
• Maximise reuse and commonality across regional deployments while accommodating necessary differences.
• Lead the front-end development of a React app, leveraging our in-house design system (Reapit Elements). 
• Split time between hands-on coding and architectural leadership. 
• Collaborate with stakeholders across both regions to ensure alignment and delivery.
• Document architecture, design decisions, and processes for long-term scalability.

Who we're looking for

• A Senior Full-Stack Engineer / Architect with proven experience leading large-scale projects.
• Strong expertise in C# .NET and/or Node.js on the backend.
• Proficient with React and front-end best practices.
• Hands-on experience architecting and delivering solutions in AWS.
• Solid understanding of API gateways, aggregation strategies, and secure service communication.
• Strong experience with OAuth/SSO flows, ideally with AWS Cognito.
• Skilled in CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK).
• Ability to balance technical leadership with hands-on delivery.
• Excellent communicator, capable of aligning global teams and stakeholders.
• Pragmatic, outcome-driven, and comfortable working in a Greenfield environment.

What your impact and success looks like

As a Software Architect / Engineer we expect your success and impact over the stages of your contract with us to look something like this:

Within 1 month:

• Develop a deep understanding of business requirements and global/regional constraints.
• Produce high-level architecture and technical design for the portal and infrastructure.
• Align with UK and Australian stakeholders on scope, priorities, and delivery approach.
• Begin standing up the AWS environment and initial CI/CD pipelines.  

 Within 3 months:

• Deliver an initial MVP architecture with core APIs aggregated behind a unified gateway.
• Deploy secure authentication flows via AWS Cognito.
• Stand up a working React front-end integrated with the design system (Reapit Elements).
• Demonstrate initial portal functionality in at least one region.
• Establish regional deployment pipelines via GitHub Actions.

Within 6-12 months:

• Deliver a production-ready, globally deployed consumer portal across UK and Australia.
• Implement maximum reusability across regions while supporting required customisation.
• Achieve seamless, secure authentication and robust API aggregation.
• Leave behind well-documented, scalable architecture and pipelines. 
• Empower the business with a foundation for ongoing consumer portal growth

We operate a Flexible Working Policy and we would like for you to work from our office location at least 2 days per week.
